 Walks in Horsham

Denne Hill & Chesworth Farm

This is a walk which many visitors to this site will already be familiar with: a lunchtime or early evening stroll over Denne Hill.  Some Horshamites do this walk almost daily - with or without a dog!  It’s a short walk (about 3 miles) with some steepish climbs and wonderful views over the town.

The walk starts at the bottom of the causeway, by the entrance to the Parish Church, and takes us through the Churchyard and beside the Arun to the bottom of Denne Hill.  As we climb the hill we see changing views of the surrounding countryside.  The view from the top is stunning.

At the top of the hill we pass by Denne Park House.  We cross the hill in a south-easterly direction and descend to Chesworth Farm via Pedlars Way, with a small detour to inspect a newly created dew pond.

We return to the Parish Church via Chesworth Lane, Denne Road and Normandy.

An aerial view of this walk on Microsoft Virtual Earth is available by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page.  You can also see a map of the walk, and download & print a written guide.  The map is for on-screen viewing only, in accordance with Ordnance Survey terms & conditions.

Much of Chesworth Farm is owned by Horsham District Council and is accessible to the public as an open space & nature reserve.  If time allows, it's worth exploring.  The extent of this land is shown on the aerial view.
