Planning: letters of
representation |
February 2008 |
14 February 2008
Head of Development
for the attention of Val Cheeseman
Horsham District Council
Park House, North Street
Horsham RH12 1RL
Dear Ms Cheeseman
DC/07/2911: 3 CHICHESTER TERRACE, HORSHAM
I write on behalf of the Horsham Society to object to
this application.
The Society notes that the house is part of a 19th
century terrace of single family houses, that it was
first extended on two storeys some 30 years ago and
that it has later been further extended by a loft
conversion. There is no provision for off-street
parking.
The Society further notes that the proposal is to
further extend the house at ground level at the rear
and convert the house to 2 x 1-BR flats on the ground
floor, 1 x 1-BR flat on the first floor and 1 x 1-BR
flat in the loft conversion.
The Society is particularly concerned that this
intensification, to give a notional density of some
235 dwellings to the hectare, is wholly out of the
character with the area and could provide a precedent
for further similar conversions. The Society is also
concerned that there is no provision for off-street
parking and the already congested road is subject to a
Residents Parking Scheme with a current waiting list
of some six months.
Yours sincerely
Oliver Palmer
