Cramp's Horsham: snapshots from the archive
15 May
- 2 Aug

Cecil Cramp, the son of the noted jeweller and antique dealer, took up amateur photography and film making as a pupil at Collyer's Grammar School in 1929. Some thirty years later he started giving his celebrated slide shows about Horsham and the surrounding villages.  His archive of images became legendary within the town of his birth.

Just before he died Cecil gave Horsham Museum 20 slide shows, around 1400 slides in all. Soon after his death his family asked if the museum would like the rest, as well as the relevant ephemera and books. A life's work capturing and recording the changing face of Horsham: without doubt it is one of the most significant gifts to the town in recent years.  There is no better memorial to a man who loved film and the photograph.

Sunday 22 June 12.30 to 5.00 pm

Sedgwick Park is located 3 miles South East from Horsham, and on Sunday 22nd June from 12.30 to 5.00 pm the beautifully restored gardens will be open, by kind permission of the owners John and Clare Davison. www.sedgwickpark.co.uk

The fete will raise funds for the Parish Churches of Nuthurst and Mannings Heath. There will be lunches and cream teas on the terrace, stalls selling cakes, plants, farm produce, DIY and gardening tools, books, bee keeping, spinning and weaving, natural health products, sculpture, and much more. Children’s activities include pony rides, tractor and trailer rides, bouncy castle and a host of games such as skittles and coconut shy

If you are a car buff you can enjoy displays of Rolls Royce, Ferraris and many Veteran cars. On the terrace and lawns there will be a selection of musical and dancing entertainment throughout the afternoon, whilst round the corner you will find birds of prey, the raffle stall, beer tent, Pimms bar, ice creams, candy floss and hamburger BBQ.

This is a great fun day for the whole family; entrance is only £5 for adults, whilst children and car parking are free.
