50th Anniversary Party
Some
80 Members and guests attended a party in the Causeway
Barn, Horsham, on Saturday 16th July to celebrate the
50th Anniversary of Horsham Society.
Guests included the Member of Parliament, local
District Councillors and officers, representatives
from Horsham in Bloom, Horsham Horticultural Society,
Horsham Museum Society and neighbouring Nuthurst
Society.
A fascinating collection of archive photographs of old
Horsham were projected and brought back many memories.
The Society’s website was demonstrated and many of its
publications were on display. Speeches were kept to a
minimum but we were entertained by our President Dr
Annabelle Hughes who recalled the mysteries of
timber-framed buildings and what it was really like to
live in Horsham in medieval times. Not nearly as
comfortable as it is today!
An excellent buffet accompanied by some fine wines
completed what was regarded by everyone as a very
enjoyable evening.
Here’s to the next 50 years!
